UN Tourism and Sommet Education Foundation launch “Social Innovation Challenge”

UN Tourism has launched the Social Innovation Challenge, a global call to empower and accelerate startups and scaleups that implement sustainable, inclusive, and green solutions for social Impact. The initiative is powered by strategic partners: Plug and Play as the technology partner, the Sommet Education Foundation as the education partner, the non-for-profit entity from world leader in Hospitality Education with its prestigious education institutions – Glion Institute of Higher Education, Les Roches, École Ducasse, Invictus Education and Indian School of Hospitality, and TORNUS Agency as the branding and communications partner.

International tourism up 5% in first half of 2025 despite global challenges

After recovering pre-pandemic levels in 2024, international tourist arrivals grew 5% in the first half of 2025 (compared to 2024), or 4% above 2019 levels. Almost 690 million tourists travelled internationally between January and June 2025, about 33 million more than in the same months of 2024.
